Testing, Testing

Good Saturday. I was trying to unwind a bit from a rough workweek, so I avoided my computer, tried to chill out with my friends, and went to see a movie.

Work decided two days before a project that was a group project was due that it had to be a single-effort project. I'm the single effort. I had no idea what the boss wanted, and zero guidance. I got instructed to not use help... so much for a collaborative workplace. I'm going to say something to the bosses about it, because I cannot stand this burnout level of work. The immediate supervisors are deliberately assigning projects to force individuals to come in on weekends, instead of having time to deal with all the life crap that happens outside of work. So I get to work through my weekend.

Of course that stuff always happens right before I have appointments and tests in faraway places.

Saturday I fell asleep at work. It's not something I usually do, but I haven't been getting enough sleep as it is, and I couldn't focus enough to do the simplest tasks at work. Typing (a huge part of my job) was impossible. I couldn't move the mouse to the correct spot and hold it there. So I snoozed for 30 minutes and woke up with my abilities magically restored.

I left work on time and just barely made it to my test. The test was really fun, and I saw a few people I'd met at tournament again. That was really awesome. Sensei wrote "purple belt" on my certificate and had to write another. We're going to have a laugh about that at class on Monday.

Then we went to see Brave. It's a great movie. It's probably the best cartoon I've seen in ages. That's including some of my other favorites like UP and How To Train Your Dragon. It is so hilarious. I was completely exhausted and I stayed awake through the entire thing. There were almost no boring moments. And there is a happy ending! After all, it's a story, not real life.
GO SEE IT. With your kids, no matter how old they are.
