It's time for Pet Peeve Friday! This week, it's turn signals, aka blinkers or indicators.
The turn signal light is supposed to help other drivers out by letting them know what you'll be doing. So it doesn't help if you wait until ten feet before your turn to put it on! My mom taught me two important things: wipers on, lights on; and turn signal on before you brake for your turn.
Also, when you plan to change lanes, especially in traffic, it makes things a lot safer and driving a lot smoother. I hate having to put on the brakes because someone couldn't just put on their indicator and let me know they wanted in front. I'm a pretty defensive driver, so I tend to let people in IF they signal. Otherwise, I get irritated and use nasty words.
The moral of the story: Please use your turn signal! Communicate to other drivers so we make the roads safer and driving easier.
